MY mission

MY mission

My name is Henry Sowells and I’m a Junior at Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, Maryland.  (Go Vikes!)

One of my hobbies is woodworking with my Dad in our garage at home.

I also follow current affairs, and I’m shocked that – in 2020 in the richest country in the world – around 40 million Americans (including 16 million kids) struggle with hunger – meaning that they are either homeless or live in households that don’t have the money to buy enough nutritious food on a regular basis.

I want to do something to help.

So my Dad said, "Why not build something and give the profit to charity?  I'll make you a fancy website."

So, that's what I'm doing. (Although I'm still waiting for that fancy website. 😉)

Please support WOODWORKING FOR FOOD and I'll donate the profit - the price you pay for my woodwork minus what I spend on wood, paint, lacquer, etc. - to Bethesda Cares, a local organization that helps the homeless and serves hot, nutritious food to vulnerable people.

MY mission

your job

Simply choose from the products below, place your order via the online form, and I'll get busy woodworking.

At the moment, I'm making cheese boards.  But keep checking back here as I will add new products for the holiday season.

I make everything using only premium, kiln-dried, sustainable wood.

See below how much of your money goes to charity.

Thank you!  Henry

"Of course, I love to hear from people whose lives have been affected by my videos, but for a 16 year old to take it to this next step and to help people out with it is truly amazing. I just think it’s a great story and I hope you take the time to read it and maybe visit Henry’s website and maybe even order something from him.  Great job, Henry.  That was the highlight of my week."
